The community of Richmond/Knob Hill is split into two sections by Crowchild Trail, encompassing an area bounded by 17th Ave SW to the North, 19/20th St SW to the East, 33rd Ave SW/Richmond Green Golf CoSouthto the South and 25a St SW on the West.
Like much of the city, Richmond/Knob Hill was annexed by Calgary proper in the early 1900s but not fully developed until the post-war boom years of the 1950s. An Area Redevelopment Plan has been in place for well over 30 years to guide residential and commercial development, and judging by this vibrant community’s popularity; it has been working. The community has an almost even split between single-detached homes and higher-density apartments.
A very active community association is in place with a brand new community centre and hall. It hosts several playgrounds, sports fields and an ice rink that’s open year-round, with basketball programs taking the place of hockey in the summer months. There are also summer and winter camps, seminars and social groups that run from the new facility.
Two off-leash dog parks are nearby for your furry friend to play in. The Richmond Green Golf Course and the Richmond Green Tennis Courts lie to the South for human sporting needs. Also to the South are a Safeway and the many shops in the quaint community of Garrison Green. The Marda Loop business district is very close by with all the many amenities it has to offer.
Richmond/Knob Hill is well serviced by transit with many trunk routes along 17th Ave SW and Crowchild trail for easy access to the downtown core.
